selecting them in Project Panel

If you have many clips which you need to combine in Timeline in the right way, you can quickly preview which one is which. No need to open it in the tedious footage viewer. And yeah, that is a kickflip!
Now you can listen to and preview audio in AE. Sound effects, music, voiceovers.
Is that a boob or it’s a knee? Scale it to better see every pixel. If you have many similar images, it’s way faster to browse if you see a bigger picture. Or a bigger boob.
Preview images with transparency
Many similar PNG’s? Yeeeha, use previewer! You can use transparency grid or choose a custom color.
Preview first frame of Compositions
If you have many precomps or when you are editing some versatile AE project file template, this might be useful. You wouldn’t have to open each comp to see what is there, before you use put it to Timeline.
Editing AE Project Files?
Previewer can be very handy when you’re working with project-file templates, like those from videohive.net. There is usually a lot of images or precomps, which you want to preview before you use them.
And some fancy settings…
Change the background for transparent images, scaling method, autoplay or loop playback.
Be warned, read this small text carefully. Maybe you’ll have to get some additional codecs.
Previewer can read only those media formats for which your mac has a codec. Previewer uses codecs from QuickTime. Below are the media formats and codecs that QuickTime Player can open in Mac OS X v10.6.x or later:

As we found out, many of you use VLC player and don’t have codecs installed. Mister Horse recommends to install the Basic pack of K-Lite Codec, which you can get for free here.
